92 expo trans removal ques

i was reading some posts here stating that you dont have to remove the Y- pipe to remove the transmission ( 92 ex 2 wheel drive ) is that true? OR you MUST remove the Y to get the tranny out ? thx

It can be done, but it is SO much easier with the Y pipe removed.

Or at least cut.. I cut the cross piece out and put in a piece of pipe used clamps on it until I got it welded in.
