You might want to try tapping on the transfer case shift motor,it could be stuck

i had that same problem and it was just a crabon build up on the connection to the transfer case, check all the wiring

I had the same problem. I havent tried checking the tranfer case motor yet because I did get it working after playing around with the buttons and the manual hubs (someone changed them to manual before I got it) Now the problem I have is that it still is picky when it goes from 4x4 and back. It usually takes a few tires for my reer wheels to engage after switching back to 2 wheel dr. in the mornings I get a whine when i give it gas and then finally the wheels kick in. Im waiting for payday to go look for new parts. Does anyone know if this whine could be related to the transfer case motor too?

I would still clean the armature on the transfer case shift motor. Mine was doing the same thing, and it eventually stopped working all together.

I put my truck up on ramps and never disconnected the motor- worked under the truck. Whole job took me about 45 minutes. I used a couple of pieces of wires to old the magnets in place when I reinserted the armature.

4x4 been working fine ever since.

you know i had that same problem but do your orange lights come on on the dash board.
