OK. I have a 92 XLT (I used to post here under a diff name long ago, and have returned). Anyway. Here is a list of my probs, starting with the oldest.

4WD went out not long after I bought it. Light works, but no 4X4. I looked on other posts, looks pretty normal.

AC went out. Actually, the compressor stopped spinning and kept burning through belts. So, small belt and no AC. Not a big deal.

Bought new tires and they cleated up. Either bad ball joints or something else, causes a vibration on the highway, but my tires are so balded out it doesn't vibe much anymore!

U-joints going, back shock hanging off.

Let's see, the metal cover on one of the rear wheels fell off.

Oh, I had the trans rebuilt at 120,000.

Today, at about 140,000, I'm driving in the Kansas heat with no AC (windows down) and I stop and park. Then I try to put the window up and it doesn't do anything. There is a clicking sound when I push the button, so I'm pretty sure power is going through. I'm so mad about it, when I get home I stripped the door off and tried to help the window up with a variety of implements but it won't budge.

Oh yeah, my tags are expired since I just paid it off and had to tangle with the bank and now with the MO dept of Revenue to transfer title and blah blah. Needs inspection.

So, what is this windo going to cost me? Its probably the motor, but when I look at the motor anfter taking out the speaker I feel sorry for the dude who has to work on it. At least until he charges me labor.

So, its decision time. I wanted to keep this car for two more years, but with all this going on its a headache and I'm considering a trade in for a Dakota or something. Any thoughts on the costs for the window? I'd hat for it to be the straw that breaks the back, but you know, I'm thinking its one of those little things that ends up costing big.

disconnect the motor and take it out...maybe have to drill out some of the divets in the door to get to the bolts. take out the screws and open the motor up, more than likely the plastis POS bearings have desintegrated. go get some 3/8" ball bearings from the hardware store and put them in place of teh plastic pieces. make sure you clean out all the old plastic. then grease em up real good and put the motor back together and reinstall. this should only cost you less than a dollar and the time it takes to do.

oh yeah i forgot....go get the bearings and the u joints fixed....won't cost to terribly much and will make the car much more enjoyable to drive.
