I'm a new member from Ohio, I just purchased a 1993 Ford Ranger 2.3 I just replaced the crank sensor, plugs, wires and air filter. It has no power. It keeps downshifting on a level road, even at slow speeds. I took it to a transmission shop have the transmission checked out. It was ok. They said that the transmission isn't getting enough vacuume from the engine to shift properly. How is that possible?
Also, the fuel gauge doesn't work. Any Ideas

Fuel gauges not working is a common problem, sometimes it's a short, but more often the float broke. Run a search and you should come up with several threads about it.

Did the trans problem start after you replaced the plugs, wires, etc? Or was it a problem already?

I changed your thread title to help you get more response. :)

Welcome to the forum.

Thanks RangerX,
On the transmission it was a problem already. It' the lack of engine power, and it's getting progressively worse. Could lack of air or gas cause this? One person told me to spray starter fluid around the intake manifold while the engine was running to see if there might be a leak around the manifold. No leak. Could the computed timing be off, or the fuel sending unit?
