93 4 wheel drive question

When I put in 4x4 and turn the wheel all the way to the left or the right and start to go it won't go it seems like it is resisting or something. Like when I want to park in a parking spot and turn the wheel all the way over I have to give it a lot of gas to go but when going straight all is fine. Any help?

That's because the u-joints will bind up. Are you engaging 4x4 on pavement? If you are (wet or dry) and you do this your lucky you haven't blown something. Only engauge 4x4 in dirt,gravel, mud, sand, or snow. THere's nothing wrong with your 4x4.

This happens with all 4x4's .what is happening is when you are in 4x4 power is trying to go to both wheels and when you have the wheel cranked all the way the outside wheel has to travel a farther distance than the inside wheel so there tends to be binding which is the resistance you feel when turning in 4x4. most of the time if you are in mud or snow there is enough slippage that you dont notice it but on dry pavement there is heavy resistance. That is why the manufaturer recomends never driving in 4x4 on dry pavement.

Will it hurt it if I do it on dry pavement? Is there some way that I can stop this from happening If I go from dry to wet?

Yeah the way you stop it from happening is to take it out of 4x4 when you get on dry pavment. and yes it will hurt it eventually if you keep using 4 wheel drive on dry pavement.
