93 5 speed tranny problem!!!!

hey guys i need some major help, i was driving my explorer it has a 6" lift and 35's well i think it was most on my parts i never got a longer drive shaft i was coming to a stop light and when i went to down shift from 4th to neutral i heard like a boom, like something banging well i just got it off the road in time and turns out a dropped my rear drive shaft, so i pulled it off and put it in 4x4 and not it seems like my tranny blew apart or something cause when in neutral its like its stuck in 3rd or 4th, but it wont shift into 3rd, 4th, or overdrive, any ideas? or is it 100% i need a tranny? its not home right now im gonna find away to get it towed tm but im gonna rip into it as soon as i get it home and will keep you guys updated

had similar problems recently in a ranger, and we just put a used tranny in it and it was fine. the synchro bearings basically exploded the cage for bearings was flat and bearings were in bottom of housing. i would say 95% be cheaper and easier to find a good used tranny to install
 






i thought about a used tranny but im afraid so many miles down the road the same thing will happen im curious how much it would be to rebuild or fix the bearings??

That's a super lift 5.5.you can tell by the drop pivot bracket.they have two holes.one for 4" coils and one for 5.5 you have it in the wrong hole.put it in the bottom hole and it will help with camber /caster. Those sway bars will not work like that.the rear need longer links and the front uses drop brackets or you can order new links also.i would leave them off for now,they will break like that.did you get longer break lines also?check your drive shaft also and see how much you have before you pull out
ps how do you have 6" of lift on a 5.5 kit?
 






Rebuilds in my area are more like $900-$1200. Last 5 speed I had rebuilt a few years ago before the economy dumped was $1K. That didn't include the cost of a new clutch.

Yea agreed.that $750 was with you pulling it and just rebuild,no clutch.they go for about $1200-$1400 with them pulling it and complete rebuild with clutch

If u wanna go a cheaper route go to ebay and search "m5r1". They have complete rebuild kits for the bottom end for about $300 plus a new top cover for around $100. Worth saving $300 and learning to do it urself imo, but to each his own. Also if u have a good Ford dealer around u can go ask them for an exploded view parts schematic to help with reassembly, hope this helps out so u can get back to :burnout: !!
 






well i finally got it out this morning and its stuck in gear im gonna wait till tuesday and what my votec teacher thinks i should do and if he can save me some money, from what it looks like i pulled the top cover off and either the 4th gear syncro went, or it just stuff in 4th. i was playing with the gears inside the tranny and its wont go into 4th like if its stuck between going in and coming out, but strange it wont go into overdrive either.... idk hopefully figure something out asap!
