Hello,

It seems I have a faulty power seat switch, the one mounted in
the plastic housing on the side of the passenger seat, which controls
the seat up/down, forward/backward adjustments.

Well the seat is now 'stuck' in an 'all the way forward' position, making
it impossible for anyone over 5'2" to sit in the front passenger seat.

My Ford dealer says that switch has been discontinued. My junkyard says
they crushed all their 93 Eddie Bauers. My wife says "I'll drive honey, you
can sit in the back!".

I have troubleshot the electrical to where I am 90% sure the
switch is faulty.

Does anyone know of a source to buy the replacement switch from?

Also, does anybody know how to 'jumper' the switch just so I
can get the seat moved back? Or how to get a power seat
to move manually?

Thanks, Mark

moving it manually probably isn't gonna happen, I'm sure you have but try messing with the switch a bit when you are trying to get the seat to go back. push the switch in a little while holding back. maybe some pulses, that sort of thing. you might be able to get it to contact and move the seat back.

Can you get to the mounting bolts to pull the seat out of the vehicle? if you can do that and had no luck playing with the switch, you can disconnect the wiring harness and by-pass the switch with 12 volt power straight into the motors to move the seat. It might take a little probing to figure out which wire it is but it is do-able with the seat out of the vehilce and a simple volt meter.

Once you have the seat out you can get the switch out and pull it apart, clean up the contacts and you will probably be good to go. might be a little touchy but it should work. I had to do this on a switch from a set of '98 seats I dropped into my '91.

also if you can't "hot-wire" the seat by-passing the switch your motor may be toasted. You can pull the drivers seat as well to use some known "good" parts in your diagnosing...aka, driver's switch controlling passenger frame, pass switch controlling driver's frame....whatever you need to track down the culprit
