hey guys, i finished installing a 3" body lift in my 93 explorer xlt yesturday and have drove around about 50 km with no problem. anyways i managed to do the lift without using the stearing extension that came with the kit and i was wondering if this is going to cause any problems or anything because i can putit in easily because it only has one bolt holding it on. and the extension is only about an inch long.

if there is plenty of engagement in the steering shaft with out the extention then you should be good to go

I'll get some pics up first thing when the sun comes up. If I'm sleeping off a hangover prob more like noon. :chug:

Anyone ever done an intake breather on a gen 1? I've thought about a couple of ways of. Doing it but I can't find a way to get around all the electronics that are in the stock airfilter thing. As in my truck won't run for more then a couple of seconds if I disconnect the intake from the engine.

The MAF (Mass Air Flow Sensor) in the intake is used to measure the amount of air coming in while the O2 (Oxygen sensors) measure the oxygen coming out. Together they are used by car's computer so the correct amount of fuel is injected into the engine. When you disconnect it the intake (bypassing the sensor) the computer is blinded and basically stops sending fuel into engine.

Do you mean something like KKM Cone filter induction? They are custom made for our Explorers and work great..

ya that cone filter thing is kind of cool but i was thinking more along the lines of a snorkle so next time im in 4 feet of water i dont drown my engine out. is it possible to bypass the elect sensor thing to do this?

do i need to put pics onto say photobucket to be able to upload them to this site?

Yes, unless you have an elite membership you have to use an outside site and post them that way.

You can't bypass the sensor.. but plenty of members built their own snorkel setups using PVC pipe from the hardware store (and retaining the MAF). Search on Snorkel and you'll get hits such as:

1st Gen Snorkel setup

i had a hell of a time trying to get the bumpers off and i basicly gave up after i broke my long pull bar tryen to loosen the bolts

Spray them down good with PB Blaster or JB80 and leave them sit awhile before trying to break them lose.

I assume you were trying to remove the nuts not the bolts on the bumpers. The bolts on the bumpers are welded together as a team. Only the nuts come off..
