94 engine swap, 3.0 liter manual trans to 289 V8

Does the 289 V8 bolt up to the 3 liter trans without adapter? considering engine swap.

I would say no. You would need a 5.0 trans. But there was only auto in explorer and no way to control it without the computer.

If you are doing a 289 I’d just use a T5 if you want a manual. Unless it was unless it was free, I’d probably use a 302 as well over the 289.

i'd use the m50dr2 trans fits right to 289 or 302 if it is 4wd the rear is 31 spline 6 bolt round to transfer case

Thanks, where I'm going is to replace my ranger 3L V6 electronic controlled engine with any old style, carb, points etc engine that will fit easily, do they make any 4.0 without fuel injection? Sounds like engine replacement requires trans replacement.

As far as I know all the 4.0s were always fuel injected. I think if you wanted a bigger motor, you’d want a stouter transmission anyways.
