94 exp have to start it 3 times

Hello, I have a 94 expedition with 74000, when i start it in the morning it starts right up, it runs fast (2000-2500) rpm for about 4 seconds then dies.
i start it again, same thing, then on third time it stays running.

Any Ideas??

Didn't the "Expedition" start in '97? Or are you refering to an Expedition trim package on an Explorer (I've heard of it, but it doesn't seem to be very common)?

Whatever it is, assuming it's EFI, the usual first suspect with a high idle on an EFI engine is a vacuum leak.

my bad, i recently sold my 99 EXPedition, only had the EXPlorer for 3 days so far, still getting the exp's confused...

94 EXPLORER, And it returns to a normal speed idle aftert it gets started for the 3rd time.

depends on if it's auto or manual. If it's an auto depends on if it's in D, P, or N. What where you in when it read 900-1000?

manual in neutral, waiting for it to warm up .
also after warming up it will still idle at 1000 in neutral.
