94 Explorer 4 low "lost" after stereo install

Hello,

I just posted this in another (wrong) forum ( I'm new at this).

I just picked up a 94 Explorer XLT. There will be a lot of little fix/repair jobs to tackle. First is the Low range 4wd. During the test drive High engages fine.
The seller told me Low wouldn't. He didn't use 4wd so he never got it fixed.
He said that during aftermarket stereo installs, it was pretty common for a sending wire to be cut by mistake. Has anyone heard of this? If so, is it an easy (cheap) fix?

That can be common after an aftermarket stereo install by someone who does not know how to do an aftermarket stereo install. Sounds like he did it himself and clipped a wire. Pull the said aftermarket stereo and the radio bezel and check the switch and/or wiring.

Check the wires as they go into the 4x4 switches at the top of the dash..

If they pulled on the wires as they tried to get the switch out of the bezel (to get more room to work on the heat unit) they could have pulled some of the wires out.
