hi everyone
truck all packed up going on a camping trip driving down the hwy 120km/hr all of a sudden there was this rattle sound coming from my engine and the check engine light came on and felt my truck slowing down and i pressed on the gas pedal seemed like no power no matter how hard i pressed ,pulled over to the side of the road put my truck in park and the engine barely stayed running pressed the gas the engine didn't rev up at all instead bog down if anything.shut it off for 5 min and started it it started and seemed like i had power to go again only for about 5 km's though and no power again. travelled like this for 400km's to camp and back (long trip) i took it out tonight and it hasn't ran for 3 days seemed to be running almost ok till it warmed up then it started again doing the same thing can you guys help me some one told me that its the fuel pump ,but i always thought that a fuel pump either works or it doesn't. thanks in advance

sounds like you better check fuel pressure. Replace filter and recheck. Fuel pumps frequently do fail just the way you are experiencing. The bearings will drag when the pump motor gets warm and then let them cool off you may be able to go a bit further. Check and replace the filter first though.

Summer time you see more failures of a marginal pump that will work fine when cold but soon as it warms up they will lose pressure. Often you will see greatly reduced pressure and very low volume. The pressure will drop when you rev it up.
