I have 2 94 X LTD'S one has 240x and then other has 140x. I had the Hubs changed from auto to manual on the 140x about 2 yrs ago. Now the hubs on the 240x are grinding when i take turns which i think are going bad ( cheap nylon crap). This SUV that has 240x is my winter SUV. This problem started last yr. when I took it out of storage but went away soon....but when i put it back into storage grinded again. The u-joints were replace about 80x ago. So my point is I'm planning to replace those auto hubs to manual soon..... I had it done on the 140x but now I want to replace them myself on the 240x. Is this a hard job? I know that you need to buy the manual hubs and a bearing retainer kit from ford to go manual. I plan to replace with ford OEM its less expensive here????.. So when should I really REPLACE THESE HUBS????? I need some advise.

Thank You
Ken

Ok I have put manual hubs on my 94 xlt and I love them its not HARD but it's not the easiest thing to do. First you need the hubs, then I believe there is a "kit" you need to change over to the manual hubs I went with WARN hubs and they are great I love them and they havent made a sound yet! 36k on them (not always used obviously) the kit includes washers, spacers and some other things i cant remember, you will need the tools for the manual and auto locking hubs to disassemble and reasamble tho good luck to you
