Hello
First time forum member
Ive owened my explorer about 2 years.
I've been working on him about that long..haha
About to hit 300,000 runs good doesn't burn any oil For 300.000 I think it's a solid vehicle
My question was I guess ever since I've owned its had a slight knock in the engine sounds like maybe in the lower part of the engine, maybe I could get somebody's opinion on that
Thanks

The 4.0 ohv is a really reliable motor used by ford since the 1960's and are so reliable they were literally also used as boat motors. I would not worry too much about the sound because it sounds like it has been and ongoing issue rather than a new one. It could be a number of different things also as these motors wear out they can become noisy just make sure you keep up on maintenance. Maybe post a video with the hood popped it would help diagnose the issue.

Thanks for your reply
Yes I believe they are tough engines like you said I don't believe it's too much to worry about I just went to the store came back and there is no knock in the engine at all.
Just every now and again. It's been a tough Explorer.ive run back and forth from Atlanta several times other than an ongoing issue with a front bearing not a problem at all

Welcome Billy.
