94 ford explorer, help

hi everyone. 94 explorer, 4.0. my plastic heater valve blew out. i plugged the heater hoses, refilled my water and anti-freeze. now my temp gauge fluctuates back and forth. any suggestions???

Probably have air in the cooling system.

When the engine is cold, remove the radiator cap and then start the engine. Once the engine warms up and the thermostat opens, you should start getting air cycled through the system. Just be aware that it can make a bit of a mess..so don't do it anywhere that you care about the ground underneath unless you have a catch pan.
