94 Ford explorer will go to all gears but won't move and is leaking transmission flui

Ok, so here's the deal. I was driving with my brother today and I started to notice heavy white smoke coming from my exhaust. I pulled over on the freeway and popped the hood and nothing. I put my explorer in drive and eased into the gas and it wouldn't move. I put it in reverse, wouldn't move. So I turned off the explorer and then restarted, and it moved but then started to smoke. So I stopped, then my explorer wouldn't move anymore. I got out and I noticed a ton transmission fluid on the ground. So I turned off the truck and called a tow truck. I got my car home. She turns on but still won't drive. I can roll her in neutral. But when I hit the gas, nothing. So I'm thinking to put my tranny fluid in her but other than that, idk. Plz help.

Probably overheated and puked out fluid. Fill it up and see what happens. It would help too if you could tell us exactly where it's leaking from.

The vacuum modulator is blown and is sucking trans fluid into the engine.

Fairly easy to replace and and about $40 for the part.

I say "fairly easy" because you need to remove the catalytic converters (exhaust) to get at the modulator.

Part number 12 in the diagram:

Get the NON-adjustable one. The parts store will have adjustable and non-adjustable. Unless the transmission has be modified from stock i.e. shift kit or high stall converter an adjustable will give you some serious grief.

Note: The modulator has a push pin. Make sure you remove it before trying to push in the new one. Also some replacements do not come with the pin, you may need to ask for one.

Oh yea and get high temp silicone vacuum hose, about 4-5"

Oh and of course you need to refill the trans fluid.

I think the front tranny seal blew oil onto the exhaust pipe and the smoke you saw was burning oil off the pipes.

happened to me pulling parleys pass outside of salt lake, got towed home, pulled the trans, replaced the seal, put everything back together, ran fine for another month or so until the O/D band broke trying to pull parleys again.
one thing to watch out for is the torque converter support bearing, its pressed in to the bell housing and when it goes it will continue to destroy front pump seals.
