Hey all. After searching through the 10 or so pages on tranny problems, I have one that still stumps me. Only on backing out of the driveway in the morning, the truck engages reverse properly, and I can back onto the road. When I shift it to drive, it won't engage. I can select any gear at that point and it will not engage any of them. I've found a less than ideal solution in the interim is to put it in park and shut the truck off, then start and shift to drive. Everything works fine, and it does not give me a hint of a problem for the remainder of the day.

Fluid is fairly fresh and clean (5000km or so, and still quite red)...

Any ideas?

Thanks,
Bob

is the fluid full? how many miles on the truck? maybe a minor valve body problem ie stuck valve?! how about if you shift out of reverse and into drive and give it a little gas ?

Do a search for A4LD and Governor. That's my guess

Thanks guys...problem found last night. This started on Sunday, I checked fluid when I filled up Saturday morning, appears that at some time on Saturday, a cooler line started to leak under pressure and the fluid got low in the 2 days since. A power flush and fill, and a length of hose and everything appears fairly normal again (fingers crossed however...low fluid on a 325000km tranny can't be good).

Thanks again for the responses!

Bob
