what is the benefit to this system, the truck feels a little like jello driving around. when i turn going a little fast and straighten out it feels a little weird in the rear apon straightening back out almost a little "squarely" what would you guys recommend for good cornering characteristics and stiffening up the suspension a bit? I wanted to lower it and get some nicer rims 17s or 18's wider of course along with wider tires. what fits what works and what will make this thing less sketch on the road? i have seen monroe replacement shocks for the air ride but i fail to understand what it does. also i can feel a bit of body roll

The air ride suspension is basically automatic adjustable air shocks. There is a leveling arm attached to the rear axle that turns on a compressor if it detects that the rear of the truck is riding low. From what I've heard the replacement monroe shocks are a little less mushy than the stock ones, but I don't have them so I can't speak on that directly.

I had air ride on my old Explorer before I removed it. Never had and "mushy" body roll problems. The air ride pumps up the rear shocks to adjust for loads, if the pump is not working, it may give you that body roll issue. My system failed and the rubber tubes inside the shocks that the pump filled failed and were bulging out the sides of the shocks. I had a couple other issues so it was cheaper to change out the system and put in a standard system.

I honestly loved the air ride when towing, absolutely no sag. But it is money pit to repair depending on what fails. That is what this was for, gave the truck a couple more thousand pound tow rating.
