Well tomorrow I pick up my "project" 1995 cougar it only has 62k on it and needs some minor work, mostly cosmetic but I will be doing plugs, wires, filters and fluids over the next few weeks. I have been looking on ebay motors for stuff and Im looking at about 300$ in parts which includes (rice) f1 fiber glass fenders, headlights, clear corners, and a used color matching electric passanger side mirror. (headlights and corner lights are there and work but are very yellowed, beyond cleaning up (i think).

1995 cougar- same green as my X.
v6 3.8L 62k mi on odometer, not rolled over.
leather seats /power everything (in good shape).
tints, and system (nothing special) but all aftermarket.

Needs minor mechanical work, on the front end and the check engine light is on, so I have to have that read. Probably just o2 sensors though, Because the car runs pretty well and has had the cel on for awhile.

And the grand total is $000.00! cant beat that, I am excited to get started on the car , which will not be put on the road untill its 100% complete, because I know I will never have the need to do everthing if I put it on the road tomorrow.

I now have the car sitting in my driveway and the check engine light is no longer on , it was the mafs which he replaced so thats a +. A/c is ice cold and heat is hot, needs some minor work inside like new push pins to hold the door panel on and it will be perfect! I will take some pictures for you guys later.

You really got the car for free? That's not too bad of a price. :D You gonna fix it up and DD it or sell it?

Yeah free , cant beat that! lol I plan to fix all the minor things wrong with it as listed above, and use it as a DD while the gas prices are as high as they are.
Then maybe put some money into it for asthtetics , like rims and stuff like that.
I also found 1 more minor issue with it, the drivers door needs new hinge pins cause it drops when you open it and is hard to close with out slamming it.

Dont worry guys the X isnt going anywhere I am keeping it as I have to much blood, sweat, and money in it to ever give it up and for the fact that I love it so much.

Oh just a quick question how hard is it to find a SC for a 3.8 v6, or would I be better with a TC?

you got a sweet deal!

you'd be wasting your time with a s/c or t/c.
some tbirds (same car) came in an s/c version with a supercharged 3.8.
my tbird has the 4.6 v8. :D
it sounds funny, but you should swap in an 02/03 explorer 4.6.
it's the same motor as the same year mustang gt's, except the exhaust and tune.
the explorer motor is aluminum and ~100lbs lighter than the stang motor.
search around here www.tccoa.com for the explorer pi swap.
pi=performance improved 4.6 in the 99-04 stangs, crown vics, etc.

I looked at there site but they want you to pay to become a member? I joined up on the automotiveforums.com site, I did however get some useful info from the site you mentioned, I am going to do the "ram air" tomorrow since I have an extra cone filter laying around, they say its good for approx "20rwhp" but I cant see it making that big of a difference. The only worry I have about doing it is hydro locking if I hit a puddle.

Oh and just another ? does anyone know if I can remove the 1/2 rag top and reveal paint? It has the half beige rood ,its not cracked or anything but I think it would look nicer with out it.

i signed up there for free.
your questions can more easily be answered in that mn-12 forum than on this ...explorer... forum.
someone on tccoa has very likely already done whatever you want to do.
