When I mean "just", I mean just. I am waiting at home for AAA to bring it from town where it died.

Looking for where to start. Vehicle ran great into town (8 miles). After sitting for 15 minutes (38+degrees), started and idled roughly and then died. Will crank but not start, pop or anything.

Added fact: last week, while servicing trans, spilled atf on engine, and went to car wash to rinse atf off (while engine running) and drove home. X sat all weekend until this AM. Cue to going to town.

I have already sprayed everything I can think of with WD 40 to dry it out, but am thinking something else.

I will check for spark and then fuel but is this what happens when ignition module fails or is this a fuel pump issue?

Any direction is greatly appreciated. Nothing to do but plan until tow rig gets here.

Thanks in advance.

I wash my engine all the time. Unless you broke a wire I doub't you hurt it. When you get it back Just check all of the normal stuff. Fuel pump fuse etc. At least you had AAA.

I'm thinking either fuel pump relay, fuel pump, or other fuel related issue. Did you check for pressure at the schrader valve on the fuel rail? Can you hear the pump cycle when the key is turned on?

Yeah, you have to listen for the fuel pump to prime when you turn the key to the ON position. If you don't hear that it could be the FP relay or the inertia switch.

Fords are harty trucks. You should get 300+k miles out of it before you let it give up its ghost.

One other thing to check is the vacuum lines at the vacuum tree located drivers side by firewall. IF one of those lines pops off, it can give you a very very rough idle or won't run at all.
