Yes thats a full size York compressor under the hood of a 95 Explorer

Check out my photo gallery for more pics, I'm too busy right now to do a full writeup, but I'll answer any questions that anyone might have. It was so nice not to have to rely on a heeps OBA to fill up my tires this weeend. Sorry for the muddy pics, I took these after I got home from wheelin, and I was too busy to take many pick while it was being built.

Sweet! When do you think you'll do the writeup? I've thought about it, but it's still too far down the road to start getting parts. Definitely looking forward to the writeup tho!

ditto the sweet pics and setup.. what size and kind of tank did you use? I was thinking about using the spare tire area for my air tank setup (dreaming stage) and wondered about cutting off the support bracket where the tire winch attaches... It looks like you removed it, so did it affect any frame flex at all (i would think it would allow the rear to flex alittle more)

Thanks for the approval guys. I got the tank at a big rig parts store, they made my hoses too. I think all that bracket does is provide a place to mount the spare tire winch. It runs parallel to the frame rails, I really don't think that it provided much if any support. Most times you hear of a strong frame they talk about a ladder type frame, nothing about bars runnin paralle w/the frame, but I may be wrong.

*Knows where to go when I need my tires pumped up ;)

Looks good. No clearance problems? Bodylift probably helps alot.

how big is the tank ruff dimensions and/or gallons? I like the multiple inlet and outlets, & drain.. My setup isn't going to be anything near powerfull like your York. I was going to feed the tank with a quickair type electric pump... The tank would give me some storage to run some air tools and to help cut down a few minutes of airing back up..

Without the body lift I would have had a hood scoop over the compressor. I did have to hit the hood with a hammer a little to flatten the hood supports, it looks like it still rubs a little though. The guy who sold me the tank wasn't sure what its capacity was, i can get measurements later, but looks like about 5 gallons to me.
