96-00 Explorer Questions.

As for Mounty vs Explorer the base Mounty is usually better equipped than the base Explorer. The Mounty has better glass headlights, where the Explorer has the plastic lens housings that tend to get yellow/hazed. I had a 96 4.0 before the v8 Mounty. Gas mileage was comparable. I didn't notice any real increase in my weekly gas spending. I did notice the 3 transmission rebuilds Never another v6 tranny for me.

Damn, my mounty has the plastic headlights, bigger than an exploder, but plastic. True, they dont yellow/haze like the ex's. Mounty's usually come equipped like the "Ed Bauer" or "limited" edition Ex's. Pretty much loaded options wise.
