Hello everyone... New to the board here...

Well here it goes.... I have read through all the posts that I could find that had even a little something to do with my problem hoping that it would send me in the right direction but with no luck I am still having problems..

I have a 96 Explorer 4.0 that I just picked up dirt cheap.. It had a few minor things that I took care of but now on to the trouble maker...

Running Rich,
Throws codes for Rich bank 1 and 2
FPR checks out good
All new O2's
New Plugs and wires,
Cleaned TB and also seafoamed it.
TPS checks out good
Engine pulls decent vacuum ..around 18 to 20
IAC has also been replaced,
coolant temp sensor also checks out good
IAT also good
Coil pack checked out good,
Engine running rough at idle and even worse when cruising 50 to 60 under a light load... or under light exceleration.. under full throttle it runs ok and clears up somewhat you could say but leaving a nice cloud of eye burning black smoke...

This thing has really got me scratching my head... any other ideas guys...

Thanks

Frank

yeah i tried cleaning the MAF and also what is the best way to check the pressure sensor for the EGR?

how's the air filter look? it's possible the injectors are worn and as a result pass too much fuel into the cylinder

The egr sensor is a common failure in explorers. Ive replaced mine a few times. Its a 40$ part and doesnt take more than 10 minutes to replace. As far a checking it im not really sure but if you search on here im sure someone knows.

Also might wanna replace to fuel filter, and does the engine reach proper operating temps?

yeah air filter is good and yes it does reach proper operating temps...

also forgot to mention that I had a another set of injectors out of a motor that i pulled and also slapped those in today thinking that maybe one was stuck open but all still the same....

did you do a compression test?
