I got this last night. I checked all the fuses and they are good. The alt was replaced about a month ago. I'd really like to fix this without taking it to the dealer. As far as my diagnostic skills can take me, it looks like I need a new airbag diagnostic monitor. Has anyone had the same problem and fixed it. I read through a lot of posts on the airbag light but none with a code 12 that got resolved.
Thanks

Also, I've been searching to try and find the part but no one seems to have airbag system parts. Does this HAVE to be done by a shop?

I think thats where it's mounted. Would the capacitor inside still be good after all this time in the junkyard?

I would say the moduals should be fine. I had one laying around out of my old 95 for over a year then had the low voltage code come up on my 96. Switched out the modual then before mounting it just plugging it in to test. It threw the not properly grounded code I then mounted it and haven't had any problems.

Did the code go away or do you still have to clear it?

I beleive it dosen't have a memory, it checks the system for errors every start then flashes a code if an error appears. Once you fix the problem no codes will appear.

Just hoping. I picked one up from the junk yard. Installed it and still had the same code.
