96 EB..new Batt & Alt..still trouble starting

HELP--X not wanting to start

I drive my 96 Eddie Bauer, everythings fine, no tell tale signs of any problems. The next time I go to start the pig, nothing. No crank, no nothing. I swap in a fresh battery. Problem solved (for the time being). About 1 month later, same thing happens. This time I swap in a new alternator, figure the factory one is just about done (I got 8 years & 125,000 miles out of it). Problem solved. Less then a week later, the pig is doing it again. Either the battery is not being charged or maybe it's something else, I don't know. Any suggestions as to what the source of the problem may be?

An electrical Short???

I had the same problem, I had an electrical short in the a/c controler that left the blower for the fan on but very very slow and I didn't notice it, and wen't I turn off the A/C didn't turn it off completly, so the fan was always on and the compressor was engaged and drained my battery even after the key was off the ignition.

Maybe you have something on or a light from the glovebox or the hood always on.

also check battery connections to the chassi and the engine make sure there is no rust or corrosion or broken wires

Same thing happened again today. She driving fine, no hint of any trouble. The next time I go to start her up...nothing. So, I disconnect & reconnect the battery & she starts back up. It doesn't make any sense to me.

If you have power,(lights,radio etc), culprit may be connections to your starter. Jiggle connections (hard to get down to them). I had this problem and found a loose connection at the starter. Good luch.
