Hey Guys,

I have a alpine head unit I'm trying to hook up in my 96 Exploder I just acquired for $100 (awesome deal I must say, lol)

Anyways,

I bought the adapter plug from an audio shop (Flat narrow plug and square one)

I wired it all up I have power at the head unit, but NO Sound??

I checked all the fuses and the audio ones are not blown.

When I bought it there was no radio, so I am assuming someone had an aftermarket unit in it.

Now on my 98 Explorer I put a aftermarket HU in that one, but had zero issues??

Help anyone? Because rolling around without sound is a beach...listening to all the creeks and rattles, lol

does it have the factory amp, ? if it does there is a turn on wire, might have to find that ,

I am assuming it does have the factory amp. Because all the places I looked for the adapter harness showed just the flat skinny plug. Mine has 2.

Also, there is a black ground wire that I did hook up too from the 2nd square plug

Factory Amp is what I would be looking for.

In a 96 the amp is WAY in the back of the truck on the passenger side behind that big wall panel... You'll need to purchase an amp bypass kit...

Plan on having fun for a couple of hours running that wire all the way back there for the bypass...

I installed a 98+ HU in a coworkers 97 Mountaineer and all I did was find the remote turn on wire on the stock harness and hooked it up the a switched +12v. In this case, he should be able to use the antenna wire on his aftermarket HU(I dont think I have seen one that does not have that wire)

connect the blue/white on the narrow gray plug to the blue/white (if present, otherwise just the plain blue) on the alpine harness
