Hello everybody! This is my very first post after searching the threads for a next effort attempt to fix a miss on #1. I have a 96' Explorer with a 4.0L X motor with 150k on it. I had the common intake leak that gave me the codes for left and right lean banks. I replaced the upper intake gaskets with little effort and everything worked fine for about two weeks. The SES light came on again and I now had a #1 miss (Passenger Side Front Cyl) so I replaced one plug and wire to evaluate/verify the repair. SES stayed off for a full day of driving so I went ahead and replaced the remaining plugs and wires for maint. The origional #1 plug along with two other that were not giving me problems had hairline cracked ceramics. OK ~ Everything worked fine for about three days and my fuel economy came back. The light came on again and I have another miss on #1. I'm going to swap #1 and #2 plugs around and then later the plug wires to verify the work that was done. I don't think that there is any issue there and the chances that I have a bad plug or wire on that same exact cyl is not very likely. Now here is the kicker,...It has been suggested to me that the coil could be intermittant since it seems to be an issue when the vehicle is warmed up and of course the worse feeling is when I am at a full stop. When the coil replacement was suggested, I remembered when I did the intake, the bolt that attaches the coil bracket down below to the exhaust manifold (Or someplace down there) was dropped and lost. I blew it off and I have not replaced it. After all this is said, does the coil pack seek ground through this bracket, or is it grounded through the harness? And how likely is it that the coil pack is bad only on one cyl? Can I OHM it out to verify even with an intermittant miss and how is this done? I should I just replace it? Any good/inexpensive sources for a pack?
Thank you all for you comments and help ahead of time! The informational knowledge that I have gained and applied from all of your posts has helped me in so many ways.

I would switch plugs and wires around with number 1 cylinder. If you continue to get mis fire code on number 1, consider replacing the coil pack. If you pull the #1 wire off with it running, does it make any difference in the rpms?

I switched the #1 plug and the same issue is there. I think I'll try a coil pack next but my thought is possibly and partial hung valve. I don't have a compression tester but I would like to see if anyone has an Idea for a coil pack test before I just throw one on and hope for the best. Can it be OHM'ed or verified? The plug still fires but seems weak?
I'm not sure where to go from here.
