To start i just bought a 1996 explorer xlt 4.0 4wd auto the other day and it has some shifting issue. the first thing that happened was i was driving 35/40 mph and let off the gas and it rev'd really high untill i hit the gas again. it only does this when d/shifting and it does this all the time.
The second thing is that i went to put it reverse and it started grinding. It does it from park to reverse and from drive to reverse, but when i put it in 4 low it shifts to reverse just fine.
now the third thing is that it slips in all the drive gears now since the reverse is working, and the 4wd lights blink 6 times after driving it for a min. the o/d light blinked a couple times once but now it doesnt at all.
And the fouth thing is that my speedometer works sometimes and other times it dont there is no specific time or speed it just does what it wants.
any clue on what could cause all these problems or could it be multiple parts. thanks
