96 explorer questions

Hi guys , i just picked up a 96 explorer today and i just got a few things wrong with it that hopefully you guys can figure out

First thing is the odometer is stuck , just recently happened original owner was keeping track of the mileage even after sticking , but how can i fix it

Second for some reason on the window motors , some work fine but some work really slow going down but goes up fast , not sure what that is

Third thing is the egr valve is bad on the vehicle and needs to be replaced , first off were on this vehicle is the egr valve , i know on my older fords they were right towards the front on the intake , is this a similar situation and how to i take it off , once again thinking back to my older ford they just had a big threaded bolt that goes to it

I think i found the egr valve location, but mostly care about the stuck odometer , obviously i need to take the instrument cluster off but what made it get stuck together and how can i fix it

Mine has gotten stuck before but it has always unstuck. Seemingly happens at random. How long has it been like that?

about 2 weeks or so , i just didnt know if i needed to take the instrument cluster off and re lubricate it up or something

The odometer worm gear is probably stripped out. That's what happened to my 96' a couple of years ago.

Fairly common issue on Ford odometers. The gear is plastic and gets brittle with age. Mine shattered when I pushed the trip meter button one day.
You can swap out the whole speedometer cluster but good luck finding one with the same mileage as yours,
or... You can replace the broken gear in yours with one from here...Ford-odometer-gears or here... http://www.odometergears.com/ford.html
