I have a 1996 Explorer, it has what looks to be a Ford Dealer Installed Security System made by Ford, I found a black box under the drivers side dash and a motion sensor also attached to it.
When I start the engine the door locks cycle lock/unlock multiple times, I can push either the lock or unlock button on a remote I have and it locks or unlocks the doors depending on the button pressed, when I turn the key off then the remote doesn't work anymore.
it seems like it is going into programming mode as soon as the key is turned on, it ackowledges the remote, but when you turn the key off exiting programming mode it doesn't retain the information and the remote doesnt work.
