I was having trouble with the steering on my 96' Sport 4X4. The steering wheel seemed to be getting tight and sticking in spots and not always returning after a turn. The local garage wanted close to $700 to replace tie rods and balljoints. Well, I had inspected and lubed the tie rods and ball joints and was certain that wasn't the problem. So I brought my Exploder home and did a search in this forum. Thanks guys. I found a thread about the same problem and the solution was simply to lube the lower steering shaft u-joint. Problem fixed. All I did was slip an oil can between the shaft and boot and squirt a few times. That loosened it up in seconds. Then I stuck a greese gun hose in the boot and pumped till greese started coming out. It steers great now. I may replace the shaft if I notice it getting too loose. Looks like a simple job. And I'm sure it won't cost $700. So thanks to all of you for sharing your knowledge and experience in this forum. Keep up the good work.:D
