97 - 98 did the grill change

I'm looking for a grille insert for my 96 sport, I found one that I like but it says only for 98-99. I wasn't aware the grill changed from 95-00.

The grill did not change but the latch system did change from 97-98. Because of this, retailers list grills for 98-01 because you can access the hood latch from above the grill, but on 95-97 the latch is inside the grill opening. To correct this, you can just keep a screwdriver with you. So, that grill will fit your Ex.

Or do like I did and do some creative cutting to the plastic mesh of the grille . A little snip snip on the mesh gives you a big enough amoutn of room to squeeze the safety latch through .
