'97 Ford Aerostar XLT
hello all at explorerforum.....the name's mike and i'm from knoxville, tn.....got a question about a 97 aerostar xlt.....none of the power locks are working?.....i'm not the most mechanically inclined person, but i know a lil bit....had the owners manual out looking in the trouble-shootin section...it says that i'm looking for an 18 GA fuse link (brown in color)...it also says to look near the starter motor relay for it.....found what i believe to be 3 fuse links under the hood behind the battery, but none of them are brown....i also checked the fuses under the dash and the all seem to be working.......went to auto parts store today and tried to see if they could help me find what the piece looks like and where it might be...he looked up the part for me and printed me out a picture of the piece and even let me see the actual piece,so i had some idea of what i'm lookin for (not even sure if we were lookin up the right part, but anyway)... when i asked him if he could send someone outside to help me look for it after business slowed down a little bit, he didn't seem to interested in helping anymore......i even called a ford dealership and talked to someone in the service department, but he wasnt sure what it looked like either, mainly because of the age of the van.....so, basically im not sure if i got anywhere with the help i was given today......so with that being said, does anyone have a picture of the fuse link for the power locks?...or if someone could tell me the general area of where i'm supposed to be lookin for the fuse link?......sorry i wrote a book, just tryin to explain as best i can what's goin on.....thanks in advance for any advice/help!!

Welcome to this forum! The 30 amp fuse is behind the driver's side kick panel. The flasher is outside of the panel, so look behind the panel. It's a single fuse that has its own holder (not part of a panel). Do you have the owner's manual? If not, there is a sticky thread on the top of this section with a link to download one. Another sticky has information on how to repair the power lock wiring. Here's the sticky with Aerostar specifications: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=218540. This is the sticky with information on the power door lock wiring, and the location of the fuse: http://www.explorerforum.com/forums//showthread.php?t=223072
