97 explorer 5.0 2wd replacing axle studs/wheel studs? metric or standard keys? link to yt video?

I am replacing the rear wheel studs on my 97 5.0 my 14mm wratchet just doesn't feel right. neither does a size up or down work. Do I need standard wrenches? also, if anyone has a link to the yt diy video please POST have not been able to find it. Also, just saw my rear brakes are down to their last layer of padding and the emergency shoes are non existant.

The parking brakes in these ( they aren’t emergency brakes, jam on that thing at 50 and see what happens) are junk. I never replace them.

What are you using the 14mm on? The studs themselves are SAE.

I want to install the lug studs and the only nuts I see are behind the spline on the dust cover?
Do I pull left or right? one of the nuts is already scraped don't want to mess this up.

When I installed studs on mine, I didn’t have anything more removed than you do now. I did have to grind a very tiny relief in the threadless part of the stud, but they popped right in after.

just finished installing all 5 studs and brakes on one side. found a tutorial here on EF. No grinding. Used a aluminum spacer as the stud installer, it has the grooves in the design that centers the stud.

Excellent. My studs were just a hair too long. Even a few MM shorter and they would have went right in.
