Hello everyone. I am new and hoping you can help me with my heater problem. So far I have done the following. The blend door actuator is shot so I unplugged it because of the noise. Either way there was no heat. So I checked my antifreeze, the hoses running through the firewall, and the actual heat gauge. I squeezed the main hose a few times then plugged in the actuator and I have heat where I want it for the winter, (on the defrost and the floor and on on high). My question is if I unplug the actuator and leave it on the floor and defrost position all winter, will I be able to just turn the heat on and off on my dash heat panel and still have Heat? Hope this makes sense.

I just went through something similar on my 97.

My door was working, actuator was stuck.

Tried to move the door so i could get heat, and it wouldn't budge, so I removed the actuator, and the door moved freely.

I was worried that if i didn't keep the fan on, the door would close on its own, and i'd be back to having only cold air. (with the fan on, the air blows and keeps the door sealed shut)

I put a very small piece of duct tape on the door to keep it open (allowing air to pass through the heater core) and it seems to keep the door open even without the fan on. Allowing me to have heat, or no heat.

Thank you for that. I actually fixed mine too and I'm pretty proud of myself considering. Pretty much the same way as I just got it working where I wanted then unplugged the actuator and now I have heat by just turning the power to the fan off or on when I need it.
