Hello everyone, :salute: I am replacing the factory cassette deck with a new cd player. I purchased the adaptor plugs for the conversion, but still not getting any sound from my speakers. The adaptor plugs were supposed to take care of everything - but did not.
*First off, where is this booster located and,
*what do i do to it to make it work and start cruising with tunes again?

Stereo power booster location

Your stereo amplifier is located behind the back, passenger side, trim panel. Yes and it IS a ***** to get at! Good luck:salute:

Thank you very much for the reply. I was afraid that was where it is located. One thing though...i have been told that it is not an amplifier but rather a booster. Apparently the amp only comes with the JBL deck. Also, do you know what wires to cut or re-route once i get to the amp/booster? thanks again. take care.

Is there a factory remote wire on the harness??

Well, i have not seen a schematic, nor was there a factory remote for the original deck, therefore i am fairly confident there is not a factory remote wire on the harness. Why?
p.s. thanks for the replies folks. keep em comin pls. maybe, together we can figure this out. :salute:

He meant remote wire in the harness to turn the amp on. Did you hook up a blue/white wire?

Head unit wires

At the back of your head unit you should have two plugs. The longer , gray, plug should have the following wires:
- Light Green/ purple strip – Memory power, hot all the time
- Black – Ground chasse
- Yellow/black strip – switched power
- Light Blue/ red stripe – illumination
- Black/light green stripe – radio ground
- Dark blue or gray – on power for your amp

The square plug is just your speaker wirers going to your amp.

Wow! Thank you so much nomadtgif, oplitic, and aznboi3644. As it turns out the adaptor plug set that I purchased (pn#70-5600 from Metra) was NOT quite the "no brainer" i was told it would be (unless of course, you do this kind of thing all the time). The dark blue wire was not in the right position - nor was the black. On the adaptor I soldered the blue/white to the red, and the orange/black to the chassis ground. It is now working perfectly.
I am very impressed with this forum and will try to bring helpful knowledge to others whenever i can to show my gratitude for the help i have recieved. Thanks again. Take care. :salute:

glad to see ya got it. Sometimes the harnesses are messed up. just recently had thta problem on a BMW, the harness itself was wrong and the blue and blue/white were switched.
