Our 97 Ford Explorer Will Not Start. The starter turns over so it's not the battery or starter. We had a new alternator and plugs and leads changed a month ago when it happened and it worked fine. for a little while. Two days ago the engine wouldn't start and it hasn't started since. Any suggestions?

Have someone listen near the tank

for the fuel pump. It should come on for about 3 seconds when you turn the key on and then shut off. If it does that then you know that circuit is working and the computer is probably functioning. Presence of spark would be the next thing to check.

Does it turn over, then quits? Or just doesn't start at all?

Joe

It doesn't start up at all. You turn the key and it its trying but the engine won't kick on.

how much gas do you have in the tank?..are you parked on a hill facing down?

FUEL PUMP SAFETY SWITCH?????

Does it pop at all?

Smell Like Gas?

:bounce: :bounce: Check the fuel pump relay in the firewall fuse box area. :D
