My 97 XLT was sitting around for a long time and the engine oil got very gunked up and the oil pump is broken. An engine flush didn't help. I'm considering having the engine replaced (at the recommendation of a local shop) with a Jasper rebuilt. Looks like $3-5G to do this. Is it worth it?
Rest of car is in great shape w/ new brakes and brake lines. Also, is the oil pump easier (and less expensive to replace) when the engine is being replaced?
