Hey all, on the 98 AWD 5L V8 there is a knob on the console to toggle between "regular road" and "off road"... can't remember if those are the exact labels but it's something like that. What the heck does this do, I don't notice a diffrence anytime between the two?

Hmm, well a v8 awd is, well awd. No knobs or switches or anything like that. Maybeits for the air suspension if yours has that.

That switch is for the 4-wheel air suspension, to raise the height a bit when you go off road.

I didn't think it was available on XLT models but I seem to be wrong. Or maybe someone replaced the bezel with one from a different truck, and the switch isn't connected. Does it seem to do anything?

it is an XLT, 5L V8, the knob doesn't appear to do anything when you toggle between the two settings... weird.

can you post some pictures of the switch? Thanks.

I have a '99 AWD 5.0 and that knob is nowhere to be found.

Might be good to check under the SUV and look to see if you have the air ride system. Does anyone know what they look like?

dude how cool would it be if you wired up your rear locker to that switch lol.

I think you may have a bezel from an air suspension model. My '98 XLT 5.0 AWD doesn't have that switch and I've had it since it was new.
