98 eddie bauer no heat

Hey all, new here with a problem. I have owned this 98 for about 1 year and love it. I have always been a jeep person but found the light. This summer I found a problem with the auto temp controle. If you set the temp to a number like 68 the car will cool down to that temp and then the heat comes on full blast. Now that it is cold outside the heat will not work. also if you put it on vent, it will blow hot air all the time I am lost, my wife drives this alot and needs the heat with my new twins (5 month old boy and girl) thanks for all the help. Anyways, you may have a broken blend door. Try this. Set your temperature around 72 and let the A/C do its thing. Does it blow out hot air? Then press "Max A/C". Does it blow ice cold air? If conditions satisfy the questions, then you have a broken blend door. Do a search on the site and there should be a link to go about repairing it for free. Good luck!!
