My 98 explorer limited 5.0L v8 is leaking a clear orderless liquid (guessing H20). It is dripping down from the back side of the front right wheel well. I don't think it is windshield wiper fluid or radiator coolant as those both are colored and have some scent to them. I also do not think it is from the ac because I haven't driven it for 7 hours and it is still dripping.

any ideas as to what it could be?
thanks

It's from the AC. The system has cold parts in it that will condense moisture on them. If the AC refrigerant charge gets low, they can get so cold that the water can actually freeze up solid. Odds are that's what's happening. As the ice melts, it'll keep dripping.

I agree sounds like condensation from the air conditioner, and its normal to have a puddle of water.

yeah thanks guys, while I was at my friends house his dad begrudgingly looked at it (he's a Chevy mechanic) he came to the same conclusion. I think it was because I had just left it on automatic climate control so it probably built up an iceberg down there. I just didn't understand why it would still be dripping for 7 hours but guess it makes sense now.

thanks
