I was checking out the specs and it appears that I can take and change my base system with any ford model 98 and up, but I just wanted to check here before I did anything. I have the base model with cassette, and I am looking to upgrade to the 6cd in dash, is this going to be possible, and if so, can I use any model from 98 to present? Thanks.

I don't see why not. But make sure that the 6-disc system is for the premium system (base) and not for Mach or Audiophile systems. If you look at the sticker on top of the radio, it will show the equalization for the vehicle.

premium vs mach

what if the player is for a mach system, does that mean that it is not compatible, or am I just going to have to get additional installation materials? Thanks for your help.

If you don't have the subwoofer in the back, you have the premium system, not Mach. If you bought a Mach one, you will not hear any bass at all because there's a built-in crossover that filters out the bass to the sub and since you don't have the sub, the bass will just go bye bye. In the Mach system, there's a DSP button on the radio. There isn't such buttons on the premium system.

Will it work?
