Hi All,
This forum is a great resource! I'm not sure how I missed this one after having an Explorer for the last decade....
On to the issue -- occasionally my '98 xlt v6 will feel like it has put itself into 4WD. Most recently this happend at a stop sign. No indicator lights, rotary switch was still in the 'auto' position, but upon taking off from the stop sign (and especially noticeable when trying to turn into a parking lot) it felt just like I was in 4wd on dry pavement.
Driving around the parking lot a while resulted in a 'clunk' from the running gear, after which all was back to normal.
This has happened 3- or 4-times in the past year.
Has anyone seen or heard of this situation before? Advice?
Thanks!
Bob
