i have a 98 explorer and it needs hubs. Also, everytime I nail the accelerator whether from a dead stop or 50 mph into passing gear, there is a loud hitting noise comming from under the suv. It sounds like a chain jumping across a cog. Could this be the transfer case chain jumping teeth or maybe even the 4x4 shift solenoid for the front axel hammering back and forth due to vacuum dropping on wide open throttle. Could this have anything to do with worn front hubs. I checked the motor mounts and seems OK also this noise is not evident while torqueing the engine while holding the brake in drive at a dead stop. This noise sounds like there is a serious problem but what???
