98 explorer 4.0 sohc has been hesitating, cutting out, rough idle etc. New plugs wires coil pack. all codes cleared and still cyl 5 missfire. here is the weird thing, I borrowed my friends code reader INNOVA. I tested many times, and throughout the time there are monitor icons across the top that were blinking.. 5 total. the book says that these mean that the following have not completed their diagnostic testing. the 5 systems are
Catalyst Monitor
evaporative system monitor
oxygen sensor monitor
oxygen sensor heater monitor
egr monitor.
It seems that these systems are not completing their diagnostics for some reason, and I am unsure which direction to go. I checked my son-in-laws expedition (98) that was here and the same icons stayed on and were fine. any Ideas would help me and make my wife happy to have her car back. Thanks
