My 98 5.0L v8 2wheel drive Mountaineer has some sort of dash or sensor problem. When the tank is ~ 1/2 empty, the "low fuel gage" idiot light comes on for ~ 20 miles then goes back off, until the tank approaches empty when it comes back on again. Gas gage itself seems to be working fine.

Can someone clue me in to if this is a switch on the regular sensor or if it an independant sensor, the type of switch and or sensor? Do people think this is a grounding, a sensor or instrument cluster problem?

Thanks for your help
Gary

idiot light problem

Apparently this idiot light was trying to get me to look at a hot spike in my temperature. The needle would spike up then drop back, apparently a thermostat problem which I fixed

Alls well that ends well.
