98 mountaineer o2 sensor troubles

I bought a 98 mercury mountaineer less than a month ago. i recently took it to the shop to do a ny state inspection. i had a check engine code for an o2 sensor bank 1 sensor 2. i replaced it numerious times and the check engine light comes on after i drive 20 miles. can anyone help me?

Then it may not your O2 sensor. It could be somewhere else. Actual code will be helpful.

Are you sure you are reading the code correctly (i.e. identifying the correct sensor) and that you are replacing the correct sensor. Bank 1 is passenger side of engine; sensor 2 is the sensor in the exhaust pipe behind the cats. Don't ask me how I know this could happen!
