Any way to do this ?

Sometimes i want to kill the engine but keep listening to the radio, without losing audio between switching to accessory.

Very simple, instead of running the radio off a keyed hot, run a constant hot wire and it will not turn off till you twist the knob or push the button.

Kind of a PITA after awhile but that will do it.

This will achieve your objective, but at some point you'll forget it on and kill your battery (unless the battery saver feature kicks in).

I guess because accessory is before lock on the ignition instead of betwern lock and on, so you lose the radio when shutting off the engine.

Is 98 supposed to keep the accesssory on until the door opens or was the aftermarket radio installed wrong ?

My 98 has an aftermarket head unit and it turns off like yours. I forget for sure but I think the factory unit did say on till I opened the door.

I have a '97 EB and a '98 Lincoln Navigator - neither one keeps the radio on until the door is opened.

Thought about doing this for awhile. The power windows work for awhile after the key is turned off in my '96 E.B. and the power is cut when the door is opened, so it seems as easy as tapping directly into the circuit that controls the window feed with the radio's power with key on hot wire. Using a test light it should be fairly easy to find the wire to tap. I never did it because my truck has moved to work, home and store only status.

Good idea. i'd try this now now but it's too cold outside to be fiddling around anymore, but i'll add it to my list for spring.

Just noticed that you have a Ranger. Those units may not have that power delay feature.

If you can turn the key fast enough to ACC your audio won't be interrupted, must be very fast. YMMV

Also, I think the power is shut down after about 10 minutes because of the battery saver feature. Flick the key on and off and you get another 10.
