98 ranger starting issue

A couple of times a month I warm up my ranger for about 5 min. Turn it off to lock up the house and grab a cup of jo, and when I go to start it up it won't start... Cranks but won't start. Wait about 30 or 40 min. And it starts right up. Any one have any ideas what it may be?

No MIL lit or pending codes?

Then I'd first suspect a dying fuel pump. When it acts up again you
can test the fuel pressure at the Schrader valve on the fuel rail to
confirm.
