I'm supposed to leave in the morning on a road trip and as luck would have it I
nticed this in the drive thru tonite. It was very loud whine from the front end most likely under the hood, only did it in idle and went awy as sonn as I accelerated. It made the noise in neutral and in gear but as soon as it hit 1100 rpms it was gone. This is really freaking me out,I don't want to break down. Any ideas?

The whine is probably your Idle Air Control Valve (IAC). You can try to clean it, but it probably won't help. If you have some time in the morning, you could probably get one at AutoZone, and replace it in about 10 minutes.

Let me see if I can find a pic...............

 Thank you! I almost wish I'd left the radio on loud. You know how every once in a while you check for odd noise-but you never hear anything until it counts. Thanks so much-even if thats not it I wont be paranoid all day about it.

I'm kinda in the same situation.

But I have a related question.

I've been shopping around, and there are different prices at different places. Does this necessarilily mean the parts are better at one store as compared to another?

Thanks in advance!

:chug:

Not really. the more expensive ones are probably cleanable. I wouldn't waste the extra money. Cleaning them is ussually only a temporary fix.

Ditto what Mbrooks420 said. Just get the cheap one. They go at a relatively quick pace.

Thanks!
